Health issues that have their roots in the blood flow and heart include heart disease high cholesterol, hypertension (high blood pressure), and atherosclerosis (often called hardening of arteries) which can trigger ED. If there's not enough supply of penis blood it could hinder the male from achieving an intimate erection. Also, high blood pressure hinders the arteries from dilation. This means that less blood is flowing into the penis to allow it to become more erectile. High cholesterol may cause an accumulation of a fat chemical (known as atheroma) within the arteries, which could cause the arteries to shrink. This can make it difficult for blood to move through, leading to the condition known as erectile dysfunction. Overweight or being obese could also cause damage to blood vessels and lead to increased cholesterol levels as well as blood pressure. This can all contribute to ED.
